FORD RETAINS SALES MOMENTUM IN TOUGH TRADING CONDITIONS | WITH FURY FORD SANDTON

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) has continued its positive sales trend for this year by recording several strong results for August 2015, despite overall domestic sales weakening.

Despite the tough trading conditions, Ford once again had several star performers for the month, including the Ranger that returned to the top of the one-tonne pick-up segment.

The Fiesta hit another high note and the EcoSport retained its status as the market's most popular compact sport utility vehicle in August.

Total Ford sales were up almost 3% on the figure recorded for July 2015. Year-to-date, overall sales have increased by 10.5% compared to the same period last year.

"The automotive industry is under pressure with a declining economic environment, part of which is driven by the impact of exchange rates," says Rob Crouse Sales Director for Middle East and Africa. "Nevertheless, we have maintained a positive sales trend in these tough trading conditions, driven by the superb value for money, trend-setting features and exceptional performance and economy delivered by our current product range.

"We expect this to continue for the balance of the year as we introduce four highly anticipated new models to market, including the new Everest, Ranger, Figo and Mustang."
