Online reviews can be a nasty business. Uber has a review system that allows for both riders and drivers to submit feedback on a recent trip, but without evidence it is just one person's word against another. However, Uber has a plan to change that.
Using the gyroscope and GPS capabilities in the passenger’s and driver’s smartphones the company will be able to log when a driver is (or isn’t) driving recklessly. Reviews will still be welcomed, but now they will be backed up by proper data.
To ease some technological paranoia, Uber says that it will only review the data after a complaint has been submitted and not track driver errors as they happen. If a passenger says, for example, that a driver was accelerating too fast or breaking the speed limit then the collected data can provide necessary evidence to prove or disprove the claim.
Uber is continually improving their service to protect both their customers and their drivers, but most of all it’s to make the roads a safer place for everyone.
